Some kind of stormy sky/April showers

Here’s a bit of a photo dump of mostly stormy skies.

There’s also a shot of Saginaw Bay during my very last trip to Kathy’s house, by the bay. She’s moving to Colorado. It’s a pretty strange thing – a huge collection of chapters of my life closing. I’m going to miss her horribly.

Blue water, blue sky. I'm going to miss my friend so much! I grew up by these waters at her house. They will never be the same but always remind me of her.

My mom has also decided to remove the big old tree in the front yard. Another part of my life to end there. I grew up with that tree. It was devastating to lose the tree in 1995 that was directly in front of the house, but this big one that she wants to get rid of had my tire swing on it. It’s also the tree we had picnics under. The tree the laundry line ran to.

I played at its roots like a child plays at their father’s feet…

Some chickadees are nesting in a hollowed out broken end of a branch. She’s promised not to take it down until their babies are all fletched and gone. Here’s Pa Chickadee keeping watch. I don’t think there are eggs yet, though.

As promised, here’s the storm photo dump. I hadn’t yet taken any cloud photos so I’m pretty happy with they turned out. They are all angsty and dramatic. Drip, drip, drop little April showers!

One day I’ll be able to photograph lightning, but for now I’ll stick to clouds. They don’t move as fast.

Lilley Park – April 16, 2014

After work I decided to take a little excursion to the nearby park to see if I could spot any herons. Sadly I didn’t get to site any great blues but I did get a few nice shots. It was very chilly but several birds came out to sing for me. The moss was very happy and I sat for quite a while on a sandy trail enjoying the birdsong and solitude. This is going to happen again. It was so soothing.

Here are a choice few shots I got. I saw some bunnies but I scared them before I could get any photos. I also saw a little mouse but she was too elusive in the leaf litter. Maybe next time?

So I turned 30…

.. but I’m in the doldrums of feeling like I’m not aging, which is a good thing!

I had a rather elongated birthday celebration. It started in the middle of March when I got Cherno Alpha.

… I haven’t introduced you to Cherno yet! She will need her own post soon. She is amazing!! And sooo cute! <3 Cherno best jaeger

I also got Frozen DVD/Blu Ray and the soundtrack. I didn’t really want to see Frozen at first and then I started learning more about it. Nick took me to see it in the theaters on one of the very last days it was showing and I was smitten. It is a really great movie and deserves the praise it is getting. It is funny and moving and beautiful. Olaf isn’t as bad as I thought he was but he does have some pretty useless lines. Olaf, no one cares if you have bones.

Then came my Minnetonka moccasins. Thunderbird II in grey. Probably some of the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn! I am so hooked. :3

Of course, I got the camera.

I also got some lovely cooking accessories from Shelly and Sue: a mixing bowl with a handle for my Kitchen Aid, sifters that sit on top of bowls including said mixing bowl, reusable piping bags, and lids for my mixing bowls.

I got a precious ring from Kat which I have been wearing every day.

I got fences for my garden, an amazing day lily that I can’t wait to bloom, and lots of other goodies from Mom and Dad. And gyros for dinner.

And of course a DELICIOUS cake from Mary’s – strawberry with chocolate frosting and hyacinths.

Bay City State Park and an Orchid For Mom

Not much to say – some photos from the State Park in Bay City and a pretty cymbidium orchid I bought mom as an early mother’s day present.

I am pretty dang happy I got the photos of the eagle! He was so far away and I had to manually focus on him; the autofocus was too distracted with the trees. I’m sure there is a way to reduce the noise but I’m still learning…

“The photographer is here.”

So, I have some photos to post from last weekend’s excursion into the wild to photograph things that are of the wilderness but I don’t have much time. I have to be at work in 30 minutes and I kind of have to process these wedding photos I just took.

… wedding photos? That I took? Well, hot damn.

Someone called me “the photographer.”

That’s a first!

Photos to come later, after work and whatnot.

The photographer. 🙂
